New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has vowed never to concede defeat in any presidential election unless the Electoral Commission (EC) officially declares the final results.
Addressing party delegates during his campaign tour of the Savannah Region, Mr. Agyapong stressed that he would always stand firm in defending the will of the people, describing any early concession as premature and irresponsible.
“Until the last constituency is counted, if I am a presidential candidate, I will never accept defeat. I will never accept defeat until the Electoral Commission declares the results,” he said, drawing loud applause from supporters.
Positioning himself as a bold and uncompromising leader, the Assin Central MP urged NPP delegates to choose strong, fearless leadership ahead of the 2026 general elections.

“We need bold men,” he declared. “The NPP must be led by people who can match the NDC in every way and defend the interests of our supporters.”
Mr. Agyapong also took aim at some of his rivals in the flagbearer race, accusing them of focusing on personal attacks instead of addressing pressing national issues such as job creation.
“Delegates must reject any candidate who talks about me instead of jobs. We need leaders who will create employment, not those who call me unpresidential,” he said.
Defending his record and contributions to the NPP, Mr. Agyapong insisted that few within the party had sacrificed as much as he had.
“No one has given more to this party — financially, physically, and emotionally — than I have,” he stated.
As part of his nationwide campaign, Mr. Agyapong has been emphasizing economic empowerment, job creation, and restoring honesty and discipline within the NPP.
Meanwhile, the NPP recently conducted a balloting exercise to determine the order of candidates on the ballot paper for the upcoming January 31, 2026 presidential primary. Mr. Agyapong drew the first slot, followed by Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.
According to William Yamoah, Secretary to the NPP Presidential Elections Committee, the exercise was conducted in collaboration with the Electoral Commission to ensure transparency and fairness.
“The New Patriotic Party remains committed to conducting a transparent, credible, and peaceful presidential primary as we prepare to elect a flagbearer for the 2026 general elections,” Mr. Yamoah affirmed.
Mr. Agyapong’s remarks have stirred conversation within the NPP, with some interpreting his comments as a subtle reference to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s 2024 concession to then-President John Dramani Mahama, a move that sparked internal debate over political strategy and resilience.
