The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, has been arrested under circumstances yet to be clarified by the police.
Abronye, a vocal and often controversial political figure, has recently drawn attention after filing applications for political asylum in eight countries, including Côte d’Ivoire, the United States, France, Italy, Canada, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Germany.
In his petitions, he alleged that he faced “consistent and escalating political persecution, threats to my life, and systemic abuse of state security powers by the current Government of Ghana,” which, he argued, justified his request for international protection.

Prior to his arrest, armed police officers reportedly raided the residence of former NPP Youth Organiser Moses Abor in search of him but failed to locate him at the time.
The circumstances surrounding Abronye’s detention remain unclear, as the police have yet to issue an official statement.
