Daddy Lumba’s Children Disassociate Themselves from Funeral Injunction Case

The children of the late highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, have publicly distanced themselves from the ongoing court case concerning their father’s funeral and burial arrangements.

In a statement signed by Charlyn Fosuh on behalf of all the children he had with Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, they clarified that they are not parties to the legal proceedings and do not wish to be drawn into any internal family disputes.

“It has come to our attention that there is an ongoing court process regarding the funeral and burial arrangements of our beloved father, the late Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, affectionately known as Daddy Lumba,” the statement read.

“We, the children of Akosua Serwaa and Daddy Lumba, wish to clarify that we are not parties to this legal process and do not wish to be involved in any disputes or conflicts surrounding the funeral arrangements.”

The statement emphasized that their sole intention is to honour their father’s memory with dignity and peace, reflecting his remarkable life and contribution to Ghanaian music.

“Our only desire is to celebrate our father in a dignified, respectful, and peaceful manner befitting his legacy,” it added.

The children reaffirmed their unity and commitment to preserving Daddy Lumba’s legacy, urging the public and media to exercise restraint and sensitivity in their commentary.

“We kindly ask the general public, especially the media and social media commentators, to be measured and respectful in their remarks regarding the family, any ongoing legal issues, and the funeral arrangements. Our father deserves a farewell that reflects the peace, dignity, and unity he stood for,” the statement concluded.

Background

The clarification follows reports that Mrs. Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, widow of the late musician, and her children had filed an injunction to halt the funeral originally scheduled for December 6, 2025. She had earlier stated that the nuclear family was not involved in the funeral planning.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Fosuh and Ms. Ernestina Fosuh, the musician’s elder sister, have jointly issued another statement calling for an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding Daddy Lumba’s death. They cited inconsistencies in reports about how he passed away in Ghana on July 26, 2025, and urged both Ghanaian and German authorities to intervene.

The family tensions appear to have intensified following the injunction and the call for an international probe.

Despite these developments, Daddy Lumba’s children have maintained their focus on peace and unity, stressing their commitment to celebrating their father’s legacy rather than engaging in family disputes.

The 60-year-old highlife icon’s passing in July 2025 sent shockwaves across Ghana and beyond, prompting an outpouring of tributes in recognition of his decades-long influence on Ghanaian music.
