GMet Warns of Thunderstorms and Heavy Rainfall Across Parts of the Country

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a weather alert warning of thunderstorms and moderate to heavy rainfall in several parts of the country today, Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Agency cautioned that the rainstorm will be accompanied by moderate to strong winds, urging the public to take necessary precautions.

“The thunderstorms and rain mentioned in the afternoon forecast have intensified, producing moderate to heavy rainfall over parts of the country,” GMet stated.

According to the Agency, the storm system is expected to move westward, affecting more areas within the coastal, middle, and transition zones as the day progresses into the evening. Localized thunderstorms and rainfall are also likely across parts of the northern sector, it added.

GMet further warned that the ongoing storm could be accompanied by thunder, lightning, and potential flooding in low-lying areas, advising residents to remain alert and avoid flood-prone zones.
