A fire broke out in the early hours of Monday at the Accra Tourist Information Centre, triggering a swift response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS). The incident, which was reported at exactly 1:02 a.m., saw the first fire engine—dispatched from the GNFS National Headquarters—arrive on the scene within just two minutes.
Additional firefighting support was quickly mobilised from nearby stations at Flagstaff House, Circle, Accra City, and the Ministries, along with a Rapid Intervention Vehicle (RIV) from headquarters.

Firefighters battled the flames for more than two hours, eventually bringing the blaze under control by 3:32 a.m. Even after the main fire was contained, GNFS personnel remained at the scene to conduct extensive mop-up operations, ensuring all residual hotspots were extinguished and preventing any spread to adjacent buildings.
Thankfully, no injuries or casualties were reported. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and a formal investigation is expected to begin soon.
