Former Assin Central MP and New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, will submit his nomination forms for the party’s 2026 presidential primaries on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. The filing will take place at the NPP headquarters in Accra.
Confirming the development, Nhyiaeso MP and campaign team member Stephen Amoah said Mr. Agyapong will personally lead his team to present the forms.
Mr. Agyapong was the first aspirant to pick up nomination forms for the January 31, 2026 primaries. A group of NPP MPs — including Kwaku Kwarteng (Obuasi West), Charles Forson (Tema West), Stephen Amoah (Nhyiaeso), and Lawrence Agyinsam (Hemang Lower Denkyira) — collected them on his behalf on August 5.

Having placed second to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the party’s 2024 flagbearer race, Agyapong enters the contest as one of the leading contenders. Political analysts suggest his early filing is a calculated move to build momentum ahead of the primaries.
