The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has issued a statement regarding the helicopter crash that occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Adansi Brofoyedu in the Ashanti Region.
According to the GAF, an Air Force Z9 helicopter en route to Obuasi has gone off radar. The aircraft departed from Accra at 9:12 a.m. with eight people on board—three crew members and five passengers.

The statement follows reports of a helicopter crash at Adansi Brofoyedu, where the aircraft was completely destroyed by fire upon impact. Eyewitnesses say the helicopter collided with a tree, though the exact cause of the crash is still unknown. There were no visible signs of survivors at the scene.
While the GAF stopped short of confirming whether the downed aircraft is their missing Z9 helicopter, it acknowledged that efforts are ongoing to re-establish contact with the aircraft and determine its status.
Investigations into the incident are currently underway.
