Ghanaian actor and filmmaker Lil Win has expressed deep disappointment over what he describes as an unfortunate clash between the premiere of his new film “Ibrahim Traore” and a candlelight vigil for the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, both scheduled for Saturday, August 2.
In an emotional Facebook Live on Monday, July 28, Lil Win revealed that he had invested close to $1 million in producing and promoting the film, only for the premiere to be overshadowed by the vigil.
“I’ve spent nearly $1 million on this film, including production and promotions, and just like that, it’s being overshadowed,” he said. “Everyone knew my premiere was set for that day, yet the organizers still went ahead. It’s truly heartbreaking.”
Lil Win described the situation as unfair and inconsiderate, accusing the vigil organisers of disregarding the time, effort, and financial resources he had poured into the project.
“This isn’t just about me—it’s about respecting the work and sacrifices that go into creating something meaningful,” he added.
The unexpected scheduling conflict has sparked concern among fans and industry observers, with many calling for better coordination of major public events to avoid such overlaps in the future.
