President John Dramani Mahama has announced that his flagship 24-hour economy policy will officially commence on July 1, 2025. The initiative, which was a key campaign promise during the 2024 elections, is aimed at stimulating economic growth, generating employment, and enhancing the overall quality of life for Ghanaians.
Speaking at a recent event, President Mahama reaffirmed his commitment to the policy, expressing confidence in its potential to transform the country’s economy. He emphasized that comprehensive preparations are underway to ensure a seamless implementation.
As part of the initial phase, the Tema and Takoradi ports will be designated as 24-hour operational hubs, positioning them as critical engines for around-the-clock trade and logistics.
The announcement has generated optimism among Ghanaians, with many hopeful that the policy will open up new opportunities for businesses, workers, and entrepreneurs, while strengthening national economic resilience.
A key feature of the broader initiative includes the transformation of the Volta Lake Economic Corridor into a major logistics and transport route, further boosting the policy’s impact on trade and infrastructure development.
