Petition Filed to President Mahama Seeking Removal of Justice Kulendi Over Alleged Misconduct

A petition has been formally submitted to President John Dramani Mahama, calling for the removal of Supreme Court Judge Justice Yonny Kulendi over alleged judicial misconduct.

The petition, filed by Daniel Marfo Ofori-Atta on September 30, 2025, accuses Justice Kulendi of improper interference in High Court proceedings relating to the ongoing ambulance scandal trial, Republic v. Cassiel Ato Forson & 2 Others.

According to excerpts of the petition sighted by Citi News, Mr. Ofori-Atta claims that Justice Kulendi’s alleged conduct violates provisions of the Code of Conduct for Judges and Magistrates, undermining judicial independence and eroding public confidence in the judiciary.

The complainant confirmed that the petition has been officially filed and acknowledged by the Presidency.

While the next steps remain uncertain, Ghana’s 1992 Constitution provides that the removal of a Supreme Court Justice must follow the strict procedures set out in Article 146.
