The Prestea Police Command has arrested four suspects, including two alleged military officers, for an attempted robbery at LongShine Mining Company Limited in Obouhu, near Prestea.
Police sources say two other accomplices escaped, but the arrested suspects—two civilians and the two military personnel—are currently in custody. They have since been transferred from Prestea to the Tarkwa Divisional Police Command for further investigation.
According to police reports, the suspects carried out the attempted robbery on Sunday, September 28, 2025, using a brand-new Toyota pickup (GN 6116-25), which has been impounded.

Some security guards at the mining site recounted to the media how the armed men stormed the premises, assaulted staff, and demanded access to the company’s gold room.
Mr. Gideon Ofori, a Tailing Officer at LongShine Mining, described the ordeal:
“Around 11:40 p.m., a vehicle drove onto the site. At first, I thought it was one of our regular cars, but when I checked, I realized the occupants were strangers. Some were in uniforms, others in military attire, with their faces covered. They pulled my boss out of the building and tried to force him away. That was when I alerted my seniors.”
The police have assured that efforts are underway to track down the two suspects still on the run.
