Atwima Nwabiagya South MCE Decries Poor Road Network

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Atwima Nwabiagya South, Wisdom Osei Boamah, has voiced deep concern over the deplorable condition of roads within the municipality.

Speaking on the Ghanakoma morning show on Akoma 87.9FM in Kumasi with host Sir John on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, the MCE lamented that aside from the main Sofoline–Hyinahin stretch on the Kumasi–Bibiani highway, the municipality has no tarred roads.

“This situation poses a serious challenge to development and daily life in the area,” he stressed.

Mr. Boamah noted that the poor road network continues to affect residents, traders, and motorists. He added that commercial activities have slowed drastically, with drivers and traders counting heavy losses. In some cases, the poor roads have even been linked to tragic outcomes, such as pregnant women losing their unborn babies due to delays in accessing healthcare.

He revealed that residents, together with the Municipal Assembly and the Member of Parliament, have consistently appealed to the government to prioritize road infrastructure in the area. The MCE further urged authorities to provide immediate interventions, as the community cannot continue to suffer from abandoned road projects and neglect.

The government is expected to outline a clear timeline for the completion of stalled projects and make available the resources needed to improve road infrastructure in the municipality.

The situation in Atwima Nwabiagya South, he emphasised, is a matter of urgency, with far-reaching consequences for economic growth, healthcare, and the overall quality of life of residents.
