Alan Kyerematen’s Movement for Change Rebrands as United Party

Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen’s political movement, the Movement for Change, has officially rebranded as the United Party (UP) — a move aimed at strengthening its identity ahead of future elections.

The announcement was made during a ceremony held in Accra on Thursday, where Mr. Kyerematen, the party’s founder and leader, outlined a renewed vision to position Ghana as “the economic powerhouse of Africa by 2040.”

The rebranding marks a significant step in Kyerematen’s ongoing effort to establish a formidable political force outside Ghana’s traditional two-party structure dominated by the NPP and NDC.

Mr. Kyerematen, a former Minister of Trade and Industry, resigned from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2023, citing internal divisions and unfair treatment. He later launched the Movement for Change under the butterfly symbol, advocating for what he described as a “transformational leadership agenda” to drive national progress.

With its new name and direction, the United Party is positioning itself as a unifying platform focused on innovation, inclusivity, and long-term economic growth.
