Western Region: 16-Year-Old Boy Leaves Home After Writing Emotional Farewell Note to Parents

Residents of Efiakuma in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis have been thrown into shock after a 16-year-old boy left home unannounced, leaving behind a heartbreaking note accusing his parents of not loving him.

The handwritten message, partly reading “You don’t love me, I cannot stay with you anymore,” was discovered by his family on Sunday, September 7, 2025, after they returned from church.

According to his mother, popularly known as Mama, the boy had declined to join them for service that morning. “We came back from church and realised he was not at home. We found a note in which he said we don’t love him, but we do love him very much.

We are pleading with the public to help us find him. We want him to come home,” she told Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson on Connect FM’s Omanbapa Morning Show.

The letter, addressed to his parents, read in part:

“Daddy, Mummy, I really love you and appreciate you for what you have done for me. But you all don’t love me. I cannot stay with you anymore and I’m leaving this letter behind because I want you to know that I have left home and I’m not lost so don’t look for me and I will never return. God will take care of me so I’m saying goodbye to you all. Thank you. This is me, Emma.”

The incident has left the family distressed. They have since reported the matter to the police and are appealing to the public for assistance in locating the teenager.

Police investigations are underway to trace his whereabouts.
