DStv subscribers in Ghana are set to enjoy significant improvements in their service packages following what government officials describe as a major concession by MultiChoice Africa.
Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, announced that the company has agreed to provide an “unprecedented increase in value” exclusively for the Ghanaian market after weeks of negotiations and regulatory pressure over subscription pricing.
“MultiChoice Africa has committed to an unprecedented increase in value offer only in Ghana, which will result in subscribers receiving more services for less,” the Minister said at a press briefing on Monday, September 29, 2025. “Depending on the bouquet you are on, customers will enjoy between 33% and 50% additional value.”

Under the new arrangement, subscribers will see automatic upgrades across various packages:
-
Paddy bouquet holders will move up to Access.
-
Access subscribers will be upgraded to Family.
-
Family subscribers will advance to Compact.
-
Compact subscribers will shift to Compact Plus.
-
Compact Plus subscribers will gain access to the Premium bouquet.
Premium subscribers will also benefit from the initiative, with all of them automatically entered into a draw to win fully paid trips to Dubai.
The initiative will run for three months, after which a review will be conducted by the stakeholder committee set up to assess DStv’s pricing and service structure in Ghana.
The committee, established by the National Communications Authority (NCA) on September 8, 2025, was tasked with examining the fairness and commercial sustainability of DStv subscription fees while addressing public concerns about affordability. Negotiations had been tense, with the Minister warning of possible regulatory action if prices were not adjusted. MultiChoice initially resisted, citing operational challenges, but has now made concessions aimed at easing tensions.
This agreement marks a turning point in the standoff, setting the stage for a more cooperative relationship between the government and MultiChoice Ghana.
