The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) led by Divine Selase Agbeti has cautioned recent senior high school graduates to exercise responsibility in their use of social media, following a wave of indecent and reckless posts that have gone viral.
According to the CSA, some of these posts feature troubling language and inappropriate declarations such as “we go scatter them” and boasts about “snatching people’s husbands.” The Authority warned that such behaviour not only attracts negative public attention but could have long-term consequences for those involved.
In a statement, the CSA reminded young people that their digital footprint is permanent, stressing that universities, scholarship boards, and employers often review social media activity when making decisions.

“Irresponsible content can severely damage one’s academic, career, and professional prospects,” the Authority noted.
Beyond reputational risks, the CSA highlighted that such behaviour can expose young users to cyberbullying, harassment, grooming, and digital exploitation. In extreme cases, it may even constitute an offence under Ghana’s Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038) and the Electronic Communications Act.
The Authority urged graduates to use social media as a platform for personal growth, entrepreneurship, and showcasing talent, rather than for harmful or indecent content.
“As Ghana continues its digital transformation, promoting positive digital citizenship among the youth remains critical,” the statement added. The CSA pledged to continue working with the Ministry of Education, civil society groups, and community leaders to expand public education on safe and responsible online behaviour.
