Voting has ended in the Akwatia Constituency by-election, with ballot counting now underway at all 119 polling stations.
The Electoral Commission (EC) confirmed that polls officially closed at 5:00 p.m. after a full day of voting. Electoral officers are currently tallying the votes in the presence of party agents, security personnel, and independent observers.
The by-election is a keen contest between Solomon Asumadu of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Bernard Badidoo Bediako of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). The NPP is aiming to retain the seat, left vacant following the death of former MP Ernest Kumi.
