A group of New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament have picked up nomination forms on behalf of Kennedy Agyapong, signaling his early entry into the party’s 2026 presidential primaries.
The forms were collected on Tuesday, August 5, by a delegation that included Obuasi West MP Kwaku Kwarteng, Tema West MP Charles Forson, Nhyiaeso MP Stephen Amoah, and Hemang Lower Denkyira MP Lawrence Agyinsam.

They were accompanied by Dr. Alex Ampaabeng, a former Deputy Finance Minister under the Akufo-Addo administration, who has publicly declared his support for Agyapong, describing him as the best candidate to lead both the party and the country into the future.
“As the momentum builds toward the January 31st primary, it is becoming increasingly clear which key figures are aligning with the major contenders in the race,” a party insider noted.
Kennedy Agyapong becomes the first to officially pick up nomination forms for the 2026 NPP presidential primaries, positioning himself as a front-runner in the race well ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Agyapong previously contested the NPP flagbearership ahead of the 2024 elections, finishing second to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. His early move this time around is seen as a strategic step to consolidate support and gain momentum in the coming months.
