KNUST Student’s Murder Trial Adjourned to September 15

The trial of 21-year-old Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) final-year student, Daniel Tuffuor, accused of murdering his girlfriend, Joana Deladem Yabani, has been postponed to September 15, 2025.

Tuffuor was arrested on February 27, 2025, after Joana’s body was discovered on campus earlier that day. University security officials, upon being alerted, immediately notified the police.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the two were in a romantic relationship. CCTV footage allegedly showed a man, believed to be Tuffuor, strangling Joana to death following a dispute.

The suspect was subsequently arraigned before the Prempeh District Court, where proceedings have been ongoing. He remains in remand custody as police investigations continue.

Although Joana has since been buried, authorities say inquiries into the case are still active.
