A 41-year-old man, Wahibu Bukari, is on the run after allegedly shooting his wife, 35-year-old Faustina Ackom, at Anum in the Assin North District of the Central Region on Sunday. The attack reportedly stemmed from suspicions of infidelity.
According to eyewitnesses, the couple, married for 10 years with four children, had a heated argument around 12:30 am after Bukari confronted his wife over phone numbers he discovered on her mobile phone. He allegedly accused her of being unfaithful.
During the confrontation, Faustina attempted to escape, but Bukari reportedly opened fire, injuring her in the left arm and breast. Her cries for help drew the attention of neighbours, who rushed to her aid and transported her to St. Xavier Hospital at Assin Fosu, where she is receiving treatment.

Eyewitness Lydia Yeboah noted that Bukari, who had been unwell for some time, had grown increasingly suspicious of his wife, a trader.
Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene. Residents believe he may have escaped to Assin Fosu, Kushia, or Twifo Praso.
Police have launched investigations into the incident. A team from the Assin Fosu Divisional Police Command has since visited the victim at the hospital to assess her condition and gather information to aid the ongoing search for the suspect.
