The Ghana Bar Association (GBA) has dismissed reports suggesting that it deliberately excluded President John Dramani Mahama from its 2025 Annual Conference.
In a statement released on Thursday, August 21, the Association described the publications as “false, misleading, and a distortion of facts.”
The GBA clarified that President Mahama had been formally invited and had confirmed his participation as Guest of Honour at this year’s conference, scheduled to take place in Wa, Upper West Region.

The statement outlined the timeline of engagements with the Presidency:
-
In March 2025, the Bar Council paid a courtesy call on the President and extended an informal invitation.
-
A formal invitation letter, dated July 21, 2025, was later sent and received at the Presidency on July 29, 2025.
-
On August 1, 2025, the GBA received an official acceptance letter from the Presidency with reference number OPS 311/25/2817.
The Association stressed that it is customary to circulate preliminary notices of its annual conferences to members while awaiting confirmation from invited dignitaries, including the President. It added that this year’s process has followed the same standard procedures as in previous years.
