Twenty-five final-year students of Agona Swedru Senior High School have been suspended indefinitely following a violent altercation allegedly triggered by a same-sex relationship proposal.
According to sources, the incident began when a male student reportedly proposed to another male student. The proposal was rejected, and the student who received it allegedly shared the encounter with his friends. They are said to have advised him to lure the other student into a trap, which resulted in an ambush and physical assault.
The situation escalated when a retaliatory attack was launched, leading to a broader clash involving multiple students. In response, the school administration took swift disciplinary action.

Headmistress Mrs. Golda Esi Andam confirmed the suspension of the 25 students, noting that each of them was granted a fair hearing before the decision was made. She emphasized that while disciplinary measures have been taken, the students’ right to education remains protected.
“They will be allowed to sit for their final exams, but only under the supervision of their parents,” she stated. “This should serve as a clear reminder that the Ghana Education Service does not take breaches of its code of conduct lightly.”
The incident has sparked conversations about discipline, student behavior, and the handling of sensitive issues within school environments.
