Police Pledge Tight Security for Upcoming Homowo Festival

The Accra Regional Police Command has assured the public of enhanced security arrangements ahead of this year’s Homowo Festival. Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Command, made the announcement during a press briefing on Monday, July 7.

According to Superintendent Obeng, a dedicated task force made up of officers from the regional command and representatives from the traditional council has been formed to oversee security operations throughout the festival period.

“This year’s Homowo Festival is already underway, and I want to assure the general public that robust security will be in place throughout the celebration,” she said.

She emphasized the importance of community cooperation, calling on residents to support the police in maintaining peace and order. “We are here to ensure your safety, but we need your collaboration to do that effectively,” she noted.

The Homowo Festival, a major cultural celebration of the Ga people, draws large crowds each year and is deeply rooted in tradition and heritage.

The police's proactive security measures are aimed at preventing disturbances and ensuring a peaceful environment for both residents and visitors. Authorities are also encouraging the public to stay alert and promptly report any suspicious activity during the festivities.
