Sixteen young members of the Saviour Church of Ghana who died in a devastating road accident have been given a mass burial at Obogu in the Asante Akyem North District.
The tragic crash occurred on the Atwedie stretch of the Kumasi–Accra highway as the group was returning from a church event. Their bus reportedly collided with a fuel tanker, resulting in the loss of all 16 lives. According to initial reports, the tanker is believed to have suffered a tyre burst while overtaking, causing the fatal accident.
Fifteen of the victims were buried in a single mass grave, while a child among the deceased was laid to rest in a separate grave.
Speaking at the burial, church elder Mr. Boateng Asumadu expressed deep sorrow: “This is a heartbreaking moment not only for the families but for the entire community.”
The tragedy has cast a heavy pall over the town, with residents and church members united in mourning the sudden and painful loss.
