Fake Security Officers Arrested Near Awoshie DVLA Polling Station During Ablekuma North Rerun

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a group of individuals dressed in brown uniforms who falsely presented themselves as security personnel near the Awoshie DVLA polling station in the Ablekuma North Constituency.

The suspects were apprehended after failing to provide proper identification when questioned by officers assigned to maintain order during the parliamentary election rerun. They were immediately transferred to the Odorkor Police Station for further interrogation.

Eyewitnesses say the group was loitering near the entrance of the polling station, raising suspicion among legitimate security officials. Their presence sparked concern during an already tense electoral process.

John Desmond Nii Sowah Nai, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ga West and Dean of MMDCEs in the Greater Accra Region, confirmed the arrests in an interview with Citi News.

He noted that preliminary assessments suggest the individuals do not belong to any recognized state security agency.

Police investigations are currently underway to verify the identities and intentions of the suspects.
