The National Service Authority (NSA) has released PIN codes for 132,393 prospective national service personnel ahead of the 2025/2026 service year. The codes cover students from 100 accredited tertiary institutions across the country, as announced in a press statement issued on Tuesday, June 17.
According to the NSA, the release process this year reflects significant improvements in data accuracy and integrity. These gains are attributed to enhanced validation protocols and stricter enforcement of transparency standards, which have helped curb cases of inflated or fraudulent submissions.
As a result, this year’s approved intake is approximately 26% lower than the average of the last three years, and down by as much as 36% when compared to the 2022/2023 cycle.
Of the 135,990 submissions received from 122 institutions, 3,597 applications were not processed. These applications came from graduates of 22 institutions that are not recognised by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC). The NSA emphasized that graduates from these unaccredited institutions will not be mobilised unless credible documentation confirming their institution’s accreditation is submitted.
“Institutions with expired or unverified accreditation must regularise their status with GTEC within the next 30 days to avoid disenfranchising their graduates,” the statement warned.
In addition to submissions from recognised institutions, 908 private applicants — including Ghanaian students who studied abroad, and individuals who deferred or defaulted in previous service years — are awaiting final verification before their PIN codes can be issued. These applicants have been advised to contact the NSA’s support team if they are unable to access their PIN codes after June 24, 2025.
PIN Code Activation and Registration
All prospective service personnel must activate their PIN codes by paying a fee of GH¢40 at any ADB Bank Ltd branch or GH¢41 via MTN Mobile Money. The registration window opens on June 17, 2025, and closes on July 1, 2025.
Applicants should visit the NSA portal at https://smarthub.nss.gov.gh to retrieve their PIN codes and complete the registration process.
New Security and Placement Features Introduced
To strengthen the transparency and accuracy of the posting process, the NSA has implemented two new features:
-
Facial Biometric Verification: Applicants must verify their identity against data held by the National Identification Authority (NIA) using their Ghana Card before accessing the online registration form.
-
Verified Address Input: Applicants are required to provide a valid GhanaPost GPS address. This information will help determine regional placements based on proximity to applicants' preferred workplaces, making accuracy critical.
For further assistance, applicants can consult the registration guide at https://smarthub.nss.gov.gh/faq/registration-guide, email support@nss.gov.gh, or use the live chat feature on the NSA portal.
