Declare Assets by July 15 – President Mahama Directs MMDCEs

President John Dramani Mahama has issued a directive to all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to declare their assets by July 15, 2025, in accordance with constitutional requirements. The President emphasized the importance of this obligation during an orientation and training programme held in Accra on Wednesday, July 18, for MMDCEs across the country.

“I wish to remind you that you are among the category of public officeholders mandated to declare your assets. I therefore expect that by July 15, all of you will have fulfilled this obligation,” President Mahama stated.

Under Article 286 of the 1992 Constitution, all public officers are required to declare their assets upon assuming office and upon leaving office. The provision is aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and integrity in public service.

Since taking office in January 2025, President Mahama has consistently highlighted the importance of asset declaration in the fight against corruption and in building public trust in government officials. He noted that all his appointees have so far complied with this constitutional mandate.

The President also warned that failure to comply will not be tolerated, and appropriate sanctions will be applied to defaulters, just as has been done with previous appointees who failed to meet the requirement.
