The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) have announced an extension of operating hours at two key domestic airports—Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi and Tamale International Airport. The revised schedule takes effect from June 1, 2025.
The extension is aimed at improving domestic airline operations, meeting growing passenger demand, and strengthening regional connectivity. In a joint public notice, the GCAA and GACL encouraged domestic carriers to increase flight frequencies in alignment with the new hours of operation.
Under the revised schedule, Prempeh I International Airport will operate between 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., while Tamale International Airport will operate from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued to formally communicate the changes to all airline operators.
Authorities have urged the general public and aviation stakeholders to take note of the updated timetable and make necessary adjustments to their travel plans. The move forms part of broader efforts to promote domestic air travel and stimulate economic growth in the Ashanti and Northern regions.
