The Ministry of the Interior has officially declared Friday, July 4, 2025, a public holiday to be observed across the country.
In a statement released on Thursday, June 26, the Ministry clarified that although Republic Day falls on Tuesday, July 1, President John Dramani Mahama has designated Friday, July 4, as an additional holiday. This declaration was made through an Executive Instrument (E.I), in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, 2021 (Act 601).
The announcement, signed by Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, called on all Ghanaians to observe the day as a public holiday. The move effectively grants a long weekend to citizens, as the holiday conveniently falls on a Friday.
