NDC must place party loyalty over and above academic qualification- Think tank backs Akamba

Executive Director of ASEPA, Mensah Thompson has backed opposition NDC National Organizer, Joshua Akamba for saying NDC will not consider academic qualification before employment if it wins in December.

Akamba argued that some key political figures that formed Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s government had no educational background whatsoever, yet he claims, they managed the country successfully.

Addressing teeming supporters of the NDC at Brekumanso, a suburb of Asamankese in the Eastern Region after a health walk organised by the party, Mr Akamba said they have taken lessons from the ruling NPP who employed party foot soldiers into sensitive positions without the necessary qualifications.

Think tank boss Mensah Thompson believes Akamba is on point.

“Anywhere Joshua Akamba is someone should give him a big hug for me…. I don’t necessarily ascribe to the violence part of his comments but there is a lot of sense in what said however controversial.  (don’t ask me what he said…) You see in Politics we reward LOYALTY and COMPETENCE not ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION. In the corporate world, Academic qualification may top the order of selection,  but in the Political World its Loyalty first, then competence then we can talk about Qualification.” He wrote.

“The intricacies of modern day politics do not allow you to put anyone in any position just because he is academically qualified, NO!…the person must first be loyal to your party, its ideals and it’s people.

The NDC would need a lot of awakening and commitment from its grassroot ahead of the 2020 elections, and statements like this one from Joshua Akamba could just do the trick…and the Party must be willing and ready to stand by Akamba’s comment and defend it.” He added.

“Forget about the so called media backlash… the NDC is the largest Political Party in terms of numbers, if your core supporters alone are energized and they go out in their numbers to vote for you, you would need just a little push and you are already in the promised land.
