Daddy Lumba’s Final Funeral Rites Rescheduled to December 13

The Manhyia Palace has announced a new date for the final funeral rites of the late highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, widely known as Daddy Lumba. The ceremony, initially scheduled for December 6, 2025, will now take place on December 13, 2025.

The rescheduling was agreed upon during a meeting held at the Otumfuo Saamanhene Palace on November 10, 2025. At the meeting, a new funeral committee—chaired by the Dadiesoabahene—was constituted to oversee the planning and organization of the event.

During the discussions, Daddy Lumba’s sister, Ernestina Akosua Brempomaa, requested a postmortem examination, expressing suspicion of foul play in her brother’s death. She appealed for the burial to be delayed until the test results confirm the exact cause of death.

The Chiefs, however, ruled that the matter of the postmortem would be handled by the police, while affirming December 13 as the final date for the funeral rites. They also urged the family to remain united and ensure a dignified farewell for the celebrated musician.

Regarding the invocation of the Great Oath, the Asantehene pardoned Akosua Brempomaa, who had performed the ritual, but cautioned her against repeating such an act in the future.
