A violent clash between rival groups in Sampa, Bono Region, on Sunday afternoon turned deadly when masked gunmen invaded parts of the township and opened fire.

One police officer has been confirmed dead in the incident, which sent residents fleeing for safety.
Security has since been reinforced in Sampa as police and military personnel work to restore calm and investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack.

The Ghana Police Service is yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
