The final funeral rites for the late Ghanaian highlife legend Charles Kojo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, have been scheduled for Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
The ceremony is expected to attract thousands of mourners, including family members, close friends, fellow musicians, dignitaries, and fans from Ghana and abroad, all gathering to honour the life and enduring legacy of the celebrated performer.
Daddy Lumba passed away on July 26, 2025, at The Bank Hospital in Cantonments, Accra — a loss that deeply saddened the nation and the global Ghanaian community.
Since his passing, tributes have flooded in from across the entertainment industry, political circles, and fans, recognising his immense impact on Ghana’s music and cultural landscape.

Born on September 29, 1964, Daddy Lumba rose to prominence in the 1980s and went on to become one of the most influential figures in the history of Ghanaian highlife music. Over his illustrious three-decade career, he released more than 30 albums, producing timeless hits such as Aben Wo Ha, Theresa, Yentie Obiaa, and Playboy.
Known for his lyrical wit, emotional depth, and powerful storytelling, Lumba’s music captured the essence of Ghanaian life and resonated with generations of listeners. He first gained national attention as part of the Lumba Brothers duo with Nana Acheampong, before launching a successful solo career that redefined modern highlife.
