Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey’s court appearance on rape and sexual assault charges has been postponed to September 15. The 32-year-old was initially scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on September 2, but the case has been rescheduled to be heard at Southwark Crown Court.
Partey faces five counts of rape involving two women, as well as one count of sexual assault against a third woman. The alleged offences are said to have occurred between 2021 and 2022 during his time with English club Arsenal. He was formally charged four days after leaving the club, following the expiration of his contract in June.

Despite the court adjournment, Partey remains available for Ghana’s World Cup qualifying campaign. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has included him in the 24-man squad for the upcoming fixtures against Chad and Mali, stating he is “in the right frame of mind and in top shape.”
The midfielder has already linked up with the Black Stars as they travel to N’Djamena for Thursday’s clash with Chad at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno. Ghana currently top Group I after six matches as they push for a fifth appearance at the FIFA World Cup.
