Thomas Partey Pleads Not Guilty to Rape and Sexual Assault Charges at Southwark Crown Court

Villarreal midfielder Thomas Partey appeared at Southwark Crown Court in London on Wednesday, where he pleaded not guilty to multiple charges of rape and sexual assault involving three women.

The 32-year-old Ghanaian player faces five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault related to incidents that allegedly occurred between 2021 and 2022, during his time at Arsenal in the Premier League.

Partey, who left Arsenal in June after his contract expired, was charged just days after his departure from the north London club. Following his exit, he signed with Spanish side Villarreal.

During his court appearance, Partey confirmed his name and date of birth but did not comment further, entering a formal not guilty plea to all charges.

Partey was a key figure for Arsenal after joining the club from Atlético Madrid for €50 million ($59.2 million) in 2020. He played an important role in the team until his contract expired this past summer.

In addition to his court appearance, Partey was in London for Villarreal's UEFA Champions League match against Tottenham Hotspur. He came on as a substitute in the second half and was met with boos from Spurs supporters every time he touched the ball.

Partey has been granted bail ahead of his trial, which is scheduled to begin on November 2, 2026. The trial is expected to last between six and eight weeks.
