The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mubarak, has announced the renewal of curfew hours in Binduri Township and Bawku Municipality, along with their surrounding communities in the Upper East Region.
The decision, taken on the advice of the National Security Council and backed by Executive Instrument, sets the curfew from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. daily, effective Monday, September 29, 2025.
In a statement, the Minister urged chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth, and residents to exercise restraint and embrace non-violent approaches in addressing disputes, stressing the need to preserve peace in the area.
The statement also reminded the public of a total ban on:

carrying arms, ammunition, or offensive weapons,

the use of motorbikes, and
-
the wearing of smocks by both men and women.
Mr. Mubarak cautioned that anyone found in possession of arms or ammunition would be arrested and prosecuted.
