The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has donated GH¢5 million and five Toyota Hilux pickups to the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources to boost the fight against illegal small-scale mining, popularly known as galamsey.
The donation, presented at a brief ceremony in Accra on Monday, September 15, will strengthen the work of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Secretariat, which coordinates national efforts to curb the destructive practice.
It forms part of GoldBod’s wider commitment to enhancing gold traceability and promoting sustainable, responsible mining across the country.
