Two Arrested Over Murder of 20-Year-Old in Asankragwa


The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 20-year-old man in Asankragwa on Sunday, August 17.


A police statement said preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was pursued by a group, including the two suspects, before being stabbed multiple times. The attack is believed to have been triggered by an earlier misunderstanding between the deceased and one of the suspects, identified as Kwasi Opong.


Swift police action led to the arrest of Kwasi Opong, 36, and William Francis Osei, 23, who are currently in custody assisting with investigations. A third suspect, however, remains at large.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Asankrangwa Catholic Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.


The Regional Police Command described the incident as a “heinous crime” and assured the public that all those involved will face justice. It further appealed to residents with relevant information to assist the ongoing investigation by contacting the Asankrangwa Police.
