Police Invite Political Parties to Dialogue on Election Security, Akwatia By-Election


 The Ghana Police Service has extended an invitation to political parties for a high-level meeting to address election-related violence and preparations for the upcoming parliamentary by-election in the Akwatia Constituency.


In a letter signed by Commissioner of Police and Director-General of Administration, Dr. David Agyemang Adjem, the meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the 5th Floor Conference Room of the Police Headquarters in Accra.

According to the correspondence, the session will provide a platform to deliberate on security and operational measures for the by-election, as well as assess the Electoral Commission’s (EC) preparedness and roadmap for the polls.


“The meeting will discuss the modalities for the by-election as well as the Electoral Commission’s preparedness and their roadmap for the parliamentary by-election,” the letter stated.


The Police Administration expressed optimism about the cooperation of all political stakeholders and emphasized the importance of their participation. The Electoral Commission, as the body mandated to conduct the election, was also copied in the letter.
