The Ghana Police Service has outlined temporary road closures and diversions in Accra on Friday, August 15, to facilitate smooth traffic flow and ensure safety during the inter-denominational and inter-faith state funeral for the victims of the August 6 helicopter crash.
In a statement signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police Grace Ansah-Akrofi on Thursday, August 14, the Police indicated that several key roads near the event venue would be closed to traffic.
Road Closures
The following routes will be inaccessible during the ceremony:

28th February Road: From CEPS Traffic Light Intersection to Castle Road Junction

Osu Cemetery Traffic Light on Lokko Street

Castle Road: From AU to Osu Cemetery Traffic Light

Starlet 91 Road: From Ministries Traffic Light Intersection
Traffic Diversions
To minimise congestion, alternative routes have been arranged:

Vehicles from La, Labone, and Osu heading to Accra Central or the Ministries via 28th February Road will be diverted onto Salem Avenue at the Castle Traffic Light to join Oxford Street.

Motorists from Lokko Street, Osu, towards Castle Road should use Ajumaku Street and Oxford Street.

Traffic from John Evans Atta Mills High Street to Black Star Square will be rerouted onto Liberia Road at CEPS Traffic Intersection towards the National Theatre.

Vehicles from AU Circle to Castle Road via Osu Cemetery Traffic Light will be redirected through Abdul Diouf and King Hassan Roads, linking to Abdul Nasser Road near the Ghana Institute of Journalism.
Parking Arrangements
Only vehicles with red VVIP windscreen stickers will be permitted to enter and park inside the Black Star Square arena. Designated parking areas include:

Security Enforcement
Police have warned that no vehicles will be allowed to park in unauthorised areas or bypass road blockages. Towing trucks will be stationed nearby to remove abandoned, disabled, or improperly parked vehicles. Traffic officers will also be deployed to guide motorists to the correct car parks and diversion routes.
The statement concluded with an appeal to the public:
“Motorists are advised to take note of these arrangements and plan alternative routes before travelling. The general public, especially motorists, is urged to cooperate with the Police and other security agencies to ensure effective traffic management and control.”
