Daddy Lumba’s One-Week Observance Relocated to Independence Square Due to Noise-Making Ban

The family and management of highlife legend Daddy Lumba have announced a change in venue for his one-week observance, now set to take place at Black Star Square (Independence Square) in Accra on Saturday, August 30, 2025. The new location is the same venue where a candlelight vigil was recently held in his honour.

The event was originally scheduled for the University of Ghana Stadium. However, the La State Council issued a formal reminder that a ban on noise-making in the La Traditional Area took effect on Monday, August 11, and will remain in force until September 5, 2025. Since the initial venue falls within the restricted zone, the council advised the family to either postpone or relocate the ceremony.

Choosing not to delay the observance, Daddy Lumba’s team opted for relocation to Independence Square. In a public statement, they emphasized that while the venue has changed, the date remains the same.

“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause and deeply appreciate your understanding,” the family and management said.
