Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III Passes Away at 98

The Ashanti Kingdom is in mourning following the death of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, at the age of 98.

Her passing was formally confirmed by the Oyoko Family to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, during an emergency meeting of the Asanteman Traditional Council on Monday.

Born Nana Ama Konadu, she was the 14th Queen Mother of the Ashanti Kingdom and the biological sister of the current Asantehene. She ascended the revered position five years ago, following the death of her mother and predecessor, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II.

Her presence at the Manhyia Palace was widely regarded as a symbol of stability and unity—not only within the royal household but across Asanteman.

Though details remain limited, family sources say she passed away at dawn on August 7, 2025. The one-week observation is set for Thursday, August 21, 2025.
