The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the interdiction of an officer captured in a viral video assaulting a journalist during the parliamentary rerun in the Ablekuma North constituency.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Service said the officer has been immediately withdrawn from the election duties and referred to the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) for investigation, in accordance with internal disciplinary protocols.

“The Ghana Police Service has taken notice of a viral video in which an officer is seen assaulting a reporter. The officer has since been removed from the election operation and interdicted,” the statement read.
Authorities assured the public of a full and transparent investigation into the incident, adding that further updates will be provided as the probe progresses.
