Contrary to widespread public belief, controversial televangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Agradaa, is reportedly not being held at the Nsawam Female Prison, despite her recent conviction.
On July 3, 2025, an Accra Circuit Court found Agradaa guilty of defrauding members of her congregation and engaging in deceptive “charlatanic” advertisements. She was sentenced to 15 years in prison after she organized an all-night church service where she promised to distribute money to attendees but allegedly took their funds and failed to deliver on her promise.

However, new findings by the Crime Check Foundation suggest that Agradaa has not yet begun serving her prison term. The foundation’s CEO, Ibrahim Kwarteng, confirmed that as of his latest checks, the evangelist had not been transferred to the Nsawam facility.
Kwarteng attributed the delay to administrative and procedural formalities. “She was sentenced on a Thursday evening, and there are legal processes the court must follow before she can be moved to prison. Unfortunately, Friday was a public holiday, which caused further delays,” he explained.
He added, “A warrant must be issued, and other paperwork finalized before she can be officially committed. These steps likely won’t be completed until Monday or Tuesday.”
The delay in Agradaa’s imprisonment has fueled speculation on social media, with some unfounded rumors suggesting she was assaulted in prison by one of her victims — a claim that remains unverified.
