The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, in connection with the alleged theft of state-owned vehicles.
The arrest was carried out on Sunday, June 29, 2025, following the issuance of an arrest warrant. Speaking at a press conference, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Lydia Yaako Donkor disclosed that three vehicles belonging to GIHOC had been successfully recovered during the operation.
“Yes, the reports about Mr. Maxwell Kofi Jumah’s arrest are accurate,” DCOP Donkor stated. “He was taken into custody based on a petition submitted by GIHOC Distilleries, alleging that he had taken vehicles that are property of the company. Following investigations, we have so far retrieved three of the vehicles in question.”
DCOP Donkor added that Mr. Jumah is currently being held at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters, where he is assisting police with their ongoing investigation.
This development has further fueled public concerns about accountability within state-owned enterprises and the need for stricter oversight in the management of public assets.
