Kasoa: Nursing Mother Arrested for Allegedly Attempting to Poison Her Child After Breakup

A 24-year-old nursing mother, Mary Tawiah, has been arrested by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Kasoa Divisional Police Command for allegedly attempting to poison her child during a confrontation with her boyfriend.

The incident occurred at the Kasoa Old Market in the Awutu Senya East Municipality, where Mary is reported to have confronted her boyfriend, Kobby Nbelenbele, and his alleged new partner. During a heated argument, emotions flared, and Mary allegedly threatened to poison their child in a fit of rage.

An eyewitness, Felix Dankwa, recounted that Mary pulled a substance from her bag and attempted to feed it to the child. However, bystanders quickly intervened and prevented the act. She was immediately restrained and handed over to the police.

According to reports by Adom News, Mary and Kobby previously lived together in Teshie. However, Kobby is alleged to have abandoned Mary for another woman residing in Kasoa. The emotional fallout from this breakup is believed to have led to the confrontation.

Kobby has also been taken into custody to assist police with ongoing investigations into the incident. Authorities have yet to disclose the nature of the substance Mary allegedly tried to use. Investigations continue.
