Former GIHOC MD Maxwell Kofi Jumah Arrested Over Suspected Financial Misconduct

Maxwell Kofi Jumah, the former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited, has been arrested by national security operatives over alleged financial irregularities during his time at the helm of the state-owned enterprise.

The arrest reportedly took place on Sunday, June 29, in Kumasi, following a formal request by security agencies. Mr. Jumah was subsequently transported in a pick-up vehicle to the Ashanti Regional Police Command, where he is currently in custody.

His detention is said to be part of ongoing investigations into suspected financial mismanagement, including the unauthorised sale of company assets and questionable vehicle acquisitions that allegedly occurred under his leadership.

This development follows an earlier effort by security officials on May 15 to recover government vehicles believed to have been improperly retained by Mr. Jumah after leaving office. That attempt was unsuccessful, as he was not present at the time.

Sources close to the investigation have revealed that the arrest is part of a wider probe into possible violations of public financial management laws. Investigators are said to be scrutinising how various company resources were handled during his administration.

While no formal charges have been filed yet, authorities indicate that legal action is likely once the initial phase of investigations is completed.
