FORMER U17 OF GHANA, YAW ANNOR REVEALS WHY HE SWITCHED HIS NATIONALITY

Yaw Annor played some games with the Ghana youth team but eventually decided to represent Togo at senior level.

The striker was born in Ho, Ghana and he represented his country of birth as an international for the national under-17 football team in 2013. The 24-year-old even played in the Ghanaian Premier League,  in particular to AshantiGold SC.

Annor was Ghana's Premier League top scorer last season (20 goals in 2021-22).  However, he waited desperately for his call up to the Black Stars of Ghana.  Last month, he preferred to join the selection of his country of origin, Togo.

“It was a family decision that led me to play for the Togo national team.  I made the right decision because I will probably have enough playing time with Togo,” said Annor.  Currently Annor plays in Egypt at Ismaily SC.
