A billboard geared towards creating awareness and prevention of domestic violence was unveiled at Mamobi to sensitize the public against abuse.

Speaking at the event, the commander of the Nima police division ACP Abraham Acquaye explained the different types of abuse namely Physical,sexual,verbal/emotional,mental/psychological or mental ,economic or financial abuse and other forms
He urged the public not to sweep any abuse under the carpet but report it to the nearest police station.
Appeal to scrap medical cost of violent abused cases
Mr. Yahaya Alhassan,The founder of Kunata Voluntary organization, the NGO that operates the Pamela Bridgewater project appealed to the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo to scrap medical cost of violent abused cases ,noting that, Ghana is currently reeling and trending on the prevalent cases of domestic violence. The pain and financial difficulties of paying for the cost of medical diagnosis at a public hospital, charged by a public medical officer before issuing a report for a visible impaired victim prevents the assaulted from pursuing for justice .
Stressing that in our communities those beaten or assaulted are mostly from poor background, hence, defenseless and helpless. And therefore, to require such a traumatized person to cough such an amount, it’s clear denial of the patients’ rights to pursue for fairness.
Mr. Alhassan thanked the USA Embassy delegation led by Ms. Chris Carlisle the director of international narcotics and law enforcement affairs for participating on the unveiling of stop abuse billboard situated at Nima-Mamobi , he called on the entire civil societies, diplomatic missions and related bodies to recho the campaign and join hands for making a cost-free process possible for justice to prevail
In a separate development, Mr. Jibril Mohammed, the chief executive officer of JBC 1 Group of companies appealed to men to desist from assaulting women or their partners but rather treat them with all the love that they deserve.
He made this call during a ceremony to sponsor a documentary initiated by the Bridgewater Project against abuse. The group also paid for two No to domestic violence billboards to be mounted at strategic locations to educate the public against the beatings and maltreatment of women or girls.
Speaking in the advocacy documentary program, Ms. kristina Te moller from Germany said every woman is precious and has a value ,adding that African women are hardworking ,amazing and wonderful so treat them well like they deserved and not to abuse them.
