What are you coming back to do? – Akufo-Addo to Mahama

President Akufo-Addo has criticised the performance of the NDC flagbearer and former President John Mahama, saying the main opposition leader has no record to defend in the 2020 elections.

According to him, Ghanaians will reward the NPP with another victory in the 2020 polls because of their performance in government so far.

Speaking at the 2019 annual delegates conference of the NPP currently ongoing at the Trade Fair Centre in Accra, the President said Ghanaians support the NPP overwhelmingly.

“The question that the Ghanaian people are going to ask our opponents is that “what are they coming back to do? what’s the programme of the NDC under the leadership of John Mahama? what was the programme? what is the record they are coming to defend in 2020?.

“There is strong support from the Ghanaian people everywhere I go I see a large crowd and people of enthusiasm following me everywhere I go. They are the ones who started the slogan ‘four more for Nana'”.

The President also said Ghana cannot develop without the NPP.

“The transformation of Ghana that the Ghanaian people are looking for cannot take place without the NPP. The NPP is the only party that move the nation in its forward march”.

Also addressing the conference, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia says government will make public its data confirming their performance rate relative to their manifesto promises since assuming office in 2016.

According to him, the NPP has either delivered completely on the promises or at 72 per cent rate of delivery on most of the promises.

“After just 3 years in office, we can say without any shadow of a doubt that we have fulfiled at least 72 % of the promises we made to Ghanaians. We have either delivered completely or we are delivering at least 72% and we will put the data out so everyone can see,” he noted in his address at the ongoing annual delegates conference at the Trades Fair in Accra.

It comes days after President Akufo-Addo gave the figure in his reaction to IMANI’s rating of his government in the delivery of manifesto promises.

“I disagree with the 48 assessment by IMANI. I think we deserve much higher. We are looking at 72. We have a fundamental disagreement with that rating. Our figure is the one we are working with and it’s the right one,” he noted at his 3rd encounter with the media in Accra.

IMANI Africa has scored the Akufo-Addo government 48.78% in the delivery of its campaign promises so far.
